Creatures all at Wandagama Wewa

buffalo, crocodile, stork and man
made of water and dust
colored by earth and tree
wind-swept and sun-dried
straddled between living and surviving
they watch, they wait
snap and dance away
at and from each other
parts in a larger corporeal
at odds with one another,
at peace too, at times

Located close to Panama and on the boundaries of the Kumana National Park, ‘Wandagama’ got the name from a time when there were scarcely any births in the village and even those who were born died in their infancy.
